Dream

I dreamed of Cindy last night. She reminded me to tell our readers that we are believers of Jesus Christ, His Father God, and the Holy Spirit: the Divine Three in ONE. This is what life is all about and we live (Cindy lived) it as close to what God intended as we can. No perfection here, just everyday sinners basking in His forgiveness, mercy, grace and ever-present love. “For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Romans 14:17

Love Your Everyday Life

Where’s the LOVE, Pepper? Falling down on the job. But really, everyone needs a dog.IMG_1833

My remaining pooch, Pepper, is loving–loving the sunlight pouring down on her from the skylight.  She dozed off watching TV. But she really is a loving little dog. She’s a terrier and looks like Toto from the Wizard of Oz. She misses Cindy too.

Here’s a good dog quote: “Thorns may hurt you, men may desert you, sunlight turned to fog; but you’re never friendless ever, if you have a dog.”

What Do We Mean by “Creativity”?

"Trail of Tears"
“Trail of Tears”

We are all born with creativity. Everyone has something in them that they can share–with a family member, a friend, perhaps even the world. Even babies with their first smiles are creative. Children with Downs Syndrome are creative in their love they share with no thought of return. We owe it to ourselves to find our creativity, use it for good, and honor its source. I love to paint and enjoyed doing the watercolor of the Indian.

My angel-dog, Cindy Lou Who, displayed her creativity by gazing into  the eyes of everyone she encountered, sitting in front of them, and offering them first one paw and then the other. Charmed all of them every time.  I’m raving about my dog on my first post, and that’s just fine. She makes a good example for the humans who don’t have the instincts that animals have. We have to muddle along and learn much of life’s lessons the hard way.  But gazing into a friend’s eyes and really listening to what they have to say is a good way to begin to develop mature creativity. “Listen and learn.”

Keeper of the creative flame

I’m Pat Marcantel,”Mama” to the owner of this blog.

I am “Mama” to the owner of this blog. She left for Rainbow Bridge on December 10, 2013. Of course, I promised her that I would tend to her blog. Her name is Cindy Lou Who and she was an Otterhound mixed withTerrier.   Sweetest girl you could ever hope to meet. You know, the “never met a stranger” kind.  She and I “communicated” right from our first meeting. She wanted to have a blog because she was concerned about all the things that enlivened or tried to embitter me. She was very philosophical and loved to see things resolved. I shall try to represent her well. If ever an animal had not only a heart but also a soul, Cindy did/does.

Perhaps you want to know a bit about me? I can hear your thoughts: “Okay, is this woman sane? She’s having a deceased dog as the ‘owner’ of the blog? What’s going on”?

I think I’m still sane, although at age 81, it’s sometimes hard to tell, even
for me. I’m a mom, grandmom, greatgrandmom, retired schoolteacher and mental health and substance abuse counselor. If that’s not enough to drive anyone batty, I don’t know what is. Especially when you find out that I reared six children (four BOYS and two girls) all by my lonesome. Er, well, not exactly. God was in the mix.

After retirement I designed programs for the parish (county to most of you) schools. One was a substance abuse prevention summer camp for at-risk children, and others were dealing with aiding sensory learning. I taught them art and writing for two-week periods during the school year. At that time many of our schools had no art or music teachers.

In my “spare time” I attended art workshops and studied writing and writers. This was after I graduated from college with a BA in high school education. Oh, and the book. I compiled a book about my home town. I interviewed wonderful older people who remembered so much about our past. That’s about it about me.
